‘The Matrix Resurrections’ is brilliant, but not for everyone

No one entertained anxiety like a small nostalgia, “said Morpheus in the resurrection of the matrix. It’s excavation that isn’t too smooth on reboot attacks and remakes that dominate our culture – review the characters and stories we already know are, safe. Audience knows what is expected And this is a better bet for the risk-averse studio. Of course, Morpheus (now played by Yahya Abdul-Mateen) also commented on the film he had.

More than twenty years after the matrix fundamentally reshaped the cinema genre, Lana Wachowski’s director finally dived back to the universe which made him and director of Lilly Wachowski famous. After all the time, is it really worth returning to the rabbit hole, or does this just take an easy cash franchise?

The answer to the question depends on what you want from the sequel to the matrix. Like the matrix relied and the previous revolution, Wachowski (together with co-writers David Mitchell and Alexander Hemon) were not interested in taking over the past with the resurrection. Instead, this is a film that is very aware of his inheritance, our relationship with his character, and high hopes that fans (and studio!) Have when booting their beloved property.

As someone who adores the original film, and found many things to be respected in a lot of slandered sequel, the resurrection was made only for me. It is intoxicating, thrilling and shamelessly romantic. But assessing from the polarization of the initial critical response, it was clearly not for everyone.

Small spoiler in front.

Keanu Reeves returned as Thomas Anderson, a programmer adrift in the world that doesn’t make sense for him. He met a woman played by Carrie-Anne Moss, but this time she was not an agent-whupping bad-ass Trinity, she was only a typical mother (though, very beautiful). Both of them feel instant connections. Thomas finally got torn from the world he was thank you for the new character named Bugs (Jessica Henwick), he found the real world, and Yadda Yadda, you get a picture.

Now, you might ask yourself, “Isn’t Neo and Trinity die in the matrix revolution?” All I can do is point to the movie title – What do you expect? This time, Anderson is a famous game developer known for creating a popular game trilogy that retells the whole story of the matrix. When we first met him, he was faced with a new challenge: Make the fourth entry. He approached the same fear, Wachowskis might feel about overcoming a potential matrix 4. A series of brainstorming scenes felt as if they were drawn directly from their own hell meeting with Warner Bros.. The Anderson team can only focus on the surface – how do they go beyond the time of the bullet? What if they just focus on more action? – Instead of something really substantive.
